Vauxhall top choice for UK Police Authorities

Vauxhall top choice for UK Police Authorities

Vauxhall Motors Special vehicles have now become the largest supplier of low and intermediate Police vehicles in the UK. This comes after a tender process was initiated by the National Policing Improvement Agency (NPIA).

This means that of the 52 police authorities across Britain, 71% of them are contracted to buy vehicle from Vauxhall (37). This cements the idea that Vauxhall remains the most cost effective, reliable and efficient vehicles on sale in the UK today.

The contract means that in 37 Police Authority areas the CorsaAstraInsigniaAstravanCombo, Vivaro and Movano will be used extensively.

Vauxhall have noted that there were many factors for winning the tenders. These include:

  1. Excellent value for money
  2. Low Emissions
  3. The Turnkey Vehicle Solution initiative
  4. Service Support
  5. Vauxhall's involvement with the Single Vehicle Architecture.

The Turnkey Vehicle Solution initiative is an industry first. It provides customers with rapid turnaround replacement vehicles  when a quick response is needed to get emergency services back on the road.

Vauxhall are dedicated to working with ACPO's intelligent Transportations Systems Working group on Single Vehicle Architecture. In essence, the SVA provides a standardised specification that all manufacturers can adhere to. The focus is making all vehicles have common wiring connections for equipment and ports. This reduces the need to use adaptors when changing a car stereo for example.

Vauxhall's Fleet Sales Director commented "we are delighted to have won so many of our tenders and our success proves that Vauxhall's infrastructure and superb range of vehicles are the best".

The regions that will be supplied with Vauxhalls over the next four years will include:

Chiltern Transport Consortium - Thames Valley, Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Civil Nuclear Constabulary, South East Special Operations and Counter Terrorism Units; North East - Cleveland, Northumbria, Durham, West Yorkshire, North Yorkshire, South Yorkshire and Humberside; East and West Midlands - West Mercia, West Midlands, Staffordshire, Warwickshire, Derbyshire, Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire, Northamptonshire and Leicestershire; Scotland - Northern Grampian, Tayside, Central, Strathclyde, Dumfries and Galloway, Lothian and Borders and Fife; South West - Devon and Cornwall, Avon and Somerset, Dorset, Wiltshire and Gloucestershire; and North West - Merseyside, Cumbria, Greater Manchester, Lancashire, Cheshire

The majority of the UK's police force have made the right decision. Isn't it about time your next car is as reliable, environmentally friendly and value for money as the entire range of Vauxhalls?
