The Vauxhall Corsa VXR Nürburgring Edition has finally hit UK shores. With a whole new impressive specification this pocket rocket is bound to leave owners breathless. With a re-worked version of the Corsa VXR's 1.6 litre turbocharged engine which can now produce 205PS at 5,750rpm (that's power produced to the wheels - increased from 192PS) and 250 to 280 Nm of torque, the foundations of a newly imagined Corsa VXR take place.
The Corsa VXR Nürburgring Edition has a modified engine management and turbocharger system, sports exhaust with reduced back pressure and the ability to run on 98-octane fuel which all contribute to a significant rise in power.
With all of that increased power it is important to consider the strain on the standard configuration of the Corsa. With this firmly in mind then Vauxhall fitted a mechanical multi-plate limited-slip differential which ensures that its 205ps doesn't get lost in wheel spin when launching this magnificent vehicle. It provides optimum traction at all times. Understeer has been reduced dramatically to the extent that when the driver applies more pressure to the throttle, the Corsa VXR Nürburgring Edition grips even more.
The Corsa VXR Nürburgring Edition chassis has been signed off at (where else) the Nürburgring's Nordschleife (North Loop). Vauxhall comissioned Bilstein to to develop completely bespoke spring and damper units for the car which allows for the driver an even greater degree of control. The ride height is reduced by 20mm at the front and 15mm at the rear providing an incredibly precise cornering experience.
These upgrades offer up a car that is simply breathtaking. With a perfect symphony of balance and composure along with sheer grip which is a feat unheard of in this class.
Driving an extreme car requires some extreme brakes and Vauxhall have provided in the form of a newly developed Brembo braking system which are 30% lighter and have high performance brake linings offering a 10% larger area. This, and the fact that the Corsa VXR's ABS, Traction control, Electronic Stability Control systems have all been recalibrated to account for the Nürburgring Edition's new features.
0-60mph in the Corsa VXR Nürburgring Edition will take you a blistering 6.5 seconds and with a top speed of 143mph this car will provide all the thrills you could ever want. When you get to drive the Corsa VXR Nürburgring Edition you will know instantly why it has been named after the legendary racing circuit.
Not only does it perform in a way that promises to thrill the driver and passengers but with its new cosmetic changes, there will be no doubt who is the master of the road. With a stainless steel dual exhaust, newly designed forged aluminium wheels in high-gloss grey and Nürburgring logos on the the B-Pillars and front spoiler lip, this car looks as good as it drives. The VXR Nürburgring Edition also comes in two additional colours: apple green "Grasshopper" and red "Henna". The interior has been refined with black and red Nürburgring lettering found on the sill plates and front Recaro seat backs. Striking white stitching is found on all seats along with the handbrake and gearshift console.
With an incredibly low price for this high-end spec car, the Corsa VXR Nürburgring Edition is available for £22,295.
