Why Charters loves the Peugeot 508

Already a favourite with the media, we are confident the Peugeot 508 will be a popular choice with the discerning motorist as a comfortable, quality family car and prove to be top of the list for business car buyers.  It is spacious, stylish and superbly well equipped - why wouldn't we love it?

Charters' favourite feature of the Peugeot 508

There is something special about the design of the Peugeot 508 as its contours are crafted to be free-flowing from the bonnet to boot.  All surfaces are flush-fitting (no windscreen wiper jets, no visible aerials, etc) and the look is one of pure quality. Inside, the Peugeot 508 is refined, with a meticulous finish throughout and superb levels of technology on all models.  There is plenty of room for all the family, with ample storage and a remarkable amount of boot space.  The boot of the Peugeot 508 SW is compartmentalised by the folding rigid boot mat, which also provides easy access to additional storage compartments.

But our favourite feature has to be the optional Peugeot Open and Go System - which replaces the conventional mechanical key with a smart electronic approach which opens the doors, starts and stops the engine with a push of a button and locks the doors with a brush of the hand on departure.  Mind you, this is just one example of the technology that you'll find in the Peugeot 508 range - stop by at Charters and we'll talk you through all the latest innovations.

Charters' best buy

The Peugeot 508 line up starts with an on the road price of £18,150 - with the GT HDi200 Automatic top of the range OTR at £29,975.  Whether you opt for the saloon or SW bodystyle, there is a good choice of specification level, engines and transmission options - and whichever model you select, the Peugeot 508 offers competitive pricing.

Given Peugeot's pedigree for exceptional performance, our heart recommends the 508 GT as the star of the show and our best buy for its outstanding level of equipment and sheer driving pleasure.  The 508 GT (in saloon and SW versions) is equipped with a double wishbone front suspension with drop link hub carrier which provides high level directional stability, and allows a
unique driving experience.  Come in for a test drive to see for yourself.

What the media say

They are impressed with the Peugeot 508, saying:

Autocar: "The Peugeot 508 comes across as a true game-changer, with driving characteristics as good as its new looks."

Daily Telegraph: "Peugeot is a coming marque in 2011. You won’t be disappointed by the new 508, particularly if you get the SW estate, which would improve the looks of any drive and provides a more than rewarding drive."

The Independent: "If you look into the 508, you will see a cabin as discreet, as tasteful, as suffused in quality, precision and tactile satisfaction as any Audi, BMW or Mercedes. And none of these has instruments as pure, discreet and redolent of engineering precision as the 508's. And from the outside? It is hard to make a roomy saloon with front-wheel drive and full safety regulation compliance look truly elegant. Within these constraints, the 508 is quite a good looker, assertive but understated, modern but not ephemeral. It comes across as expensive and precisely engineered."

Top Gear: "Sure enough the 508 GT is a seriously engaging car, tackling the twisty, bumpy and greasy but quick test routes like it was made for them."

Caring for the environment
In designing the Peugeot 508 range, aerodynamics have been optimised and weight reduced to maximise fuel efficiency.  CO2 emissions are as low as 109 g/km with the new e-HDi (Stop & Start) system.  With HYbrid4 technology, which is due in 2012, the Peugeot 508 will have a potential of 200bhp, four-wheel drive and CO2 emissions from 99 g/km. Pretty impressive.

The Peugeot 508 has strong 'green' credentials, with a high proportion of 'green materials' found throughout the vehicle from the interior of the wheel housing and rear bumper, to noise insulation, boot carpet, steering wheel, seat frames, engine cover, and air filter, to mention a few areas.   Overall, the Peugeot 508 is 85% recyclable and 95% degradable.
