With technology such as cruise control (with favourite speed memory), speed limiter and a cornering light function as standard, it's hard to choose a favourite feature of the new Citroen C4. But if we must decide from the long list of useful on-board technologies, we'd opt for the blind spot monitoring system. This optional function lets you know if there's a vehicle in the blind spots by lighting up a symbol in the relevant door mirror. You can also specify parking sensors or a parking space 'gap' measurement system that tells you when a parking space is of suitable size to park your Citroen C4

Charters' best buy

Equipped with a long list of standard specification, each of the three well-specified trim levels offers great value for money. Starting at £15,595, the entry-level VTR is generously equipped with six airbags, ESP, Hill Start Assist, manual air conditioning, electric front windows, a six-speaker Surround Sound audio system and cruise control with speed limiter.

Or from £18,295, the VTR+ includes alloy wheels, leather steering wheel, customisable colour instrument binnacles, front fog lights with cornering function, rear parking sensors and a Connecting Box - Bluetooth hands free and USB socket, as well as a semi-raised centre console with sliding armrest.

Whilst at the top of the range, the 2.0HDi 150hp Exclusive comes in at £21,495. This luxury driving experience, adds 17" alloys, part-leather upholstery, digital air conditioning, automatically illuminating headlamps, automatic windscreen wipers, front parking sensors with parking space ‘gap' measurement and the eTouch Emergency & Assistance System. There's also electric lumbar adjustment with massage function on both front seats and a raised centre console with automatic electric parking brake.

Prices are inclusive of VAT at 20%.

Caring for the environment

Citroen's new micro-hybrid e-HDi powertrains in the C4 range feature the latest generation Stop & Start system and Micheline Energy Saver tyres to help deliver C02 emissions as low as 109g/km at launch - and 99g/km on future models.

In addition, the new Citroen C4 uses innovative techniques, such as laser welding, to reduce its weight - further improving fuel efficiency. Citroen has also worked to minimise the C4's environmental impact by ensuring 15% of its polyamide components are made using 'green' materials - re-cycled plastics, natural materials (plant fibres, wood) and bio-materials (polyamides stemming from renewable sources).
