Why Charters loves the Citroen Nemo Multispace and Berlingo Multispace

Citroen has a great reputation for its choice of MPV vehicles - and Berlingo Multispace has a place in our hearts because mechanically it combines the hard-working practicality and load-carrier pedigree of the Berlingo van and the comfort and easy-driving family motoring found in the Citroen C4 Picasso. 

A new ‘Family Pack' option available on the Berlingo Multispace VTR (1.6i 110hp and 1.6HDi 90hp diesel engines) offers 3 individual, foldable and removable middle row seats and two additional back row seats - enabling up to seven passengers to be accommodated - whilst retaining 100-litre boot space.

What the media say
Jeremy Clarkson writing about the Citroen Berlingo Multispace said: "Prices start at less than £11,000, which is very low for something with this amount of interior space. It rides more smoothly than a Jaguar XJ8 - they should have called it the Aeroglisseur - and it is the first car ever to come with a loft. I mean it. There is an internal roofbox into which, I'm fairly certain, you could fit a pair of modern-day skis. And that's just the start. There are so many cubbyholes and oddment stowage boxes that you could hide a priest in there and never find him again."

Reviewing the Citroen Nemo Multispace, the AA roadtest concluded: "On paper the Nemo Multispace might look a little lightweight, however in practice the car is a four-wheeled holdall and family taxi all rolled into one. For a growing family it's hard not to recommend the little Citroen; it seats five, can be transformed into a van with windows and never feels less than safe and secure on the road. A compact family hatch for similar money doesn't come close on the practicality front."

Caring for the environment

With the 1.4 litre HDI diesel engine, the Citroen Nemo Multispace achieves 62.8mpg (combined cycle) and CO2 emissions of 119g/km.  The Citroen Berlingo Multispace with the 1.6 litre HDi 16V (110hp) engine with diesel particulate filter system, returns 50.4mpg (combined cycle) and 147g/km CO2.
