Caring for the environment

Picking up the What Car? Green award for Best Family Car environmental credentials of the Citroen C5 range.  The electronically controlled high-pressure diesel engines have low CO2 emissions by design, and the Michelin Energy Saver tyres fitted to the 1.6 HDi 16V 110hp diesel engined VTR+ models further improve fuel economy and reduce emissions of CO2.  The diesel engines are fitted with Citroen's award winning Diesel Particulate Filter System as standard - enabling them to meet Euro IV emissions standards (Euro V for the 2.0 HDi 16V 140hp model) - and return 53.3mpg and 140g/km CO2 (1.6 HDI 110hp models).

Citroen's Hydractive 3+ suspension, which improves ride quality, keeps the C5 leveled and allows it to drive on three wheels if one tire is flat, is derived from the hydropneumatic suspension used in the classic 1950s' Citroën DS.
