The Citroën C4 offers a choice of MPV versions - the 5-seater Picasso and 7-seater Grand Picasso. Both are stylish and offer a light, airy interior with great driver and passenger features.
Why Charters loves the Citroen C4 Picasso
We love the priority placed on safety in the Citroen C4 Picasso and Grand C4 Picasso - resulting in a five-star Euro NCAP safety rating that is considerably better than many rivals. The range offers a long list of active safety features, such as an automatic parking brake, hill-start assistance, cruise control with speed limiter, electronic stability programme (ESP), ABS, front & rear parking sensors, snow motion, lane departure warning system and multiple airbags (as standard specification or reasonably priced options).
Charters' favourite feature of the Citroen C4 Picasso
You'd expect us to talk about the interior space and comfort for passengers with a family-oriented MPV. The five-seater C4 Picasso offers 500 litres of boot space under the load cover, which increases to 1734 litres with all the seats folded. The VTR+ and Exclusive versions feature a Modubox within the boot for added practicality and security (it can evan be removed and used as a trolley with a capacity of 22kg).
The Grand C4 Picasso accommodates seven adults in three rows of seats, which can be folded to give additional space as required, and the two outer seats in the middle row fold forward for each access to the back.

What the media say
AutoExpress says: "The five-seat C4 Picasso is a superb addition to the compact executive market... A huge glass area means the C4 Picasso feels light and airy, while visibility is excellent. The panoramic windscreen and ultra-thin pillars add to this ambience. Yet the cabin is not only spacious, but well laid out. There's plenty of cubby room too, including a cooled locker on the centre console."
Writing about the Grand C4 Picasso, AutoExpress states: "Citroen has come up trumps. The C4 Picasso is a massive step forward and shoots straight to the top of the MPV sector... It's clear Citroen has rediscovered its flair for design and innovation. The C4 Picasso is a good-looking compact MPV, with well proportioned dimensions and modern, clean lines, while the huge curving windscreen dominates the front-end styling. Once inside, the sheer amount of glass, combined with narrow A-pillars and large quarter light windows, offers class-leading visibility."
Caring for the environment
The Citroen C4 Picasso and Grand C4 Picasso were designed to offer remarkable aerodynamics, with reduced weight from the use of light materials, such as aluminium for the bonnet and roof, and magnesium for the seat frames. The electronic gearbox system option lets the driver choose betwen fingertip manual gearchange or a smooth automatic transmission - which reduces CO2 emissions. Match this 6-speed gearbox to the 1.6 HDi 110hp diesel, with its particulate fileter system, for superb fuel economy and lower emissions. And, you needn't take our word for this environmental superiority - as the Grand C4 Picasso with this engine option was named Best MPV in the 2008 What Car? Green Awards.
